StructureDNA Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By accessing or using StructureDNA (including scanning a QR code, viewing a place log, submitting an update, creating an account, or requesting stickers), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service provides an operational memory log for a physical place (a house, shop, or light-commercial structure). It is a place log, not a personal social profile and not a guarantee of property condition, title, or workmanship.

2. The place log model (important)

  1. Identity. Each place log is anchored to a structured street address (and unit/suite when applicable). Address identifies *which* place the history belongs to.
  2. Access. Knowing an address alone does not entitle you to access a log. Public access is via a capability link / QR token that the place manager may rotate.
  3. House log, not owner diary. Entries are about work and conditions at the place. They may persist across ownership changes. Managers cannot silently erase history to "clean" a report.
  4. Not Carfax® / not an appraisal. StructureDNA does not certify accuracy of third-party posts, does not inspect the property, and is not a substitute for professional inspection, title search, or licensed contractor advice.

3. Roles

  • Guest / contributor: Anyone with a valid public place link who submits an update (name, category, note, optional photos). No account required for basic contribute.
  • Place manager ("owner" of the page): Account holder who created or was transferred management rights for a place. Can manage settings, regenerate QR tokens, redact/dispute entries per product rules, and request sticker kits.
  • "Owner" does not mean legal title. Managing a StructureDNA page is not proof you hold deed, lease, or authority over the real property. Do not misrepresent legal ownership.

4. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate contact information. You are responsible for activity under your login methods (email magic link, and later phone SMS if enabled). Keep access credentials confidential. You must be able to form a binding contract (generally 18+).

5. User content

5.1 License

You retain rights in content you submit. You grant StructureDNA a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Service and generate place reports/exports you or managers request.

5.2 Rules for posts

You agree not to submit content that:

  • Is false, misleading, or intended to falsify the place history
  • Is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful
  • Includes others' personal data you are not authorized to share (IDs, account numbers, alarm codes meant to stay private — use private layers when available)
  • Depicts minors without lawful basis / consent
  • Infringes IP or privacy rights
  • Is spam, advertising unrelated to work at the place, malware, or illegal
  • Attempts to overwhelm the Service (flooding)

5.3 Append-only / integrity

After a short typo-correction window, entries are generally immutable. Corrections appear as amendments. Managers may soft-redact (visible stub) or mark disputed — not silent hard-delete. StructureDNA may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or law.

5.4 Photos

Photos should relate to the place or work performed. Limits apply (rate limits and per-entry caps). We may strip metadata (EXIF), compress, or refuse uploads. Do not photograph sensitive documents or people without permission.

6. Rate limits and automated moderation

To protect place logs, the Service may enforce rate limits (for example, caps on new guest entries per hour per place / network) and photo caps per entry. We may use automated filters and human review to block or quarantine abusive, spammy, or ridiculous content. Limits and filters may change.

7. Public links, QR codes, and stickers

QR codes and public URLs are access tokens, not proof of title. Managers may regenerate tokens; old tokens may stop working. Free sticker kits (when offered) are promotional; quantities and mailing are at our discretion. Stickers remaining after a sale do not transfer legal rights — regenerate tokens if access should move.

8. Manager duties and anti-falsification

If you manage a place page, you agree to:

  • Not delete or systematically rewrite history to mislead buyers, tenants, insurers, or trades
  • Use redact/dispute tools in good faith (privacy, legal risk, clear error) — not to bury unfavorable but accurate work notes
  • Not squat places you have no relationship to
  • Release or transfer management when you no longer control the place (process as product supports)

StructureDNA may freeze, transfer, or unclaim management for disputes, fraud, or ToS violations.

9. Claiming management of a place

We may let you claim management by proving control of the mailing address (for example, a verification code mailed to the place that you enter online). Passing that check means you can manage the StructureDNA page for that place. It does not by itself prove legal title, and the product rights tied to "ownership" may change over time.

10. Private features and future verification (later)

Some features may be manager-only (private notes, etc.). Stronger verification (e.g., payment method / address match) may be required at scale. Until then, management rights may be lighter-weight; treat public log content accordingly.

10. Contributor write window

Guest contribution may be limited to a session window after opening a place link (to discourage after-the-fact dispute posts from off-site). Exact timing is set in product and may change. Managers may also temporarily lock guest writing.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW. We do not warrant that logs are complete, accurate, or continuous.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STRUCTUREDNA AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON PLACE LOGS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.

13. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify StructureDNA against claims arising from your content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or others' rights.

14. Privacy

Use of personal data will be described in our Privacy Policy when published. Guest names and photos you submit may appear on the public place page to people who have the link.

15. DMCA / IP complaints

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact us through the channels we publish on structuredna.com when available. We may remove content and terminate repeat infringers consistent with applicable law (including 17 U.S.C. §512 where it applies).

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for ToS violations, abuse, or risk to the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that should survive (license to hosted content as needed for other users' logs, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.

17. Changes

These Terms may change at any time. We may update, revise, or replace them without prior notice to you. The current Terms are published at structuredna.com/terms (web page only — we do not promise downloadable, versioned, or archival copies).

When we change the Terms, we will update the “Last updated” date on that page. Continued access or use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction says otherwise. Venue for disputes: state or federal courts in Marion County / Southern District of Indiana, unless law requires otherwise.

19. Contact

No public email or mailing address is published at this time. We may add contact channels on structuredna.com later without otherwise changing these Terms.
